Terms of Service
Last updated August 16, 2026
awfunding (“the platform”) is operated by Arcane Wonders LLC. By using it you agree to these terms. If you don't, please don't use the platform.
What awfunding is — and isn't
awfunding lets tabletop publishers run crowdfunding campaigns, pledge managers and preorders directly with their audience. When you back a project, your agreement to buy is with that publisher, not with us. The publisher makes the game, sets the rewards and prices, answers your questions, and ships your parcel. We provide the software and pass the money through Stripe.
awfunding is not a shop, a broker, or an escrow service, and we do not guarantee that any campaign will deliver.
Your account
You must be at least 16, give accurate information, and keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to it. You can close your account at any time from privacy settings.
Backing a project
All-or-nothing campaigns
Your card is saved when you pledge and charged only if the campaign reaches its goal by its deadline. If it doesn't, nothing is charged.
Flexible funding
Your card is charged when the campaign ends, whether or not it reached its goal.
Preorders and late pledges
Your card is charged immediately at checkout.
The pledge manager
After a campaign funds, the publisher may open a pledge manager where you confirm your address, add extras, and pay any remaining balance — shipping, tax, and add-ons. That balance is charged when you confirm. Miss the deadline and the publisher may finalise your pledge as it stands.
Pledging is a commitment. Until a campaign closes you may usually change or cancel your pledge yourself; afterwards, changes and refunds are the publisher's decision.
Refunds and disputes
Because your contract is with the publisher, refund requests, delivery questions, damaged goods and delays go to them first — use the message button on the campaign page. Publishers set their own refund policies within the law where they operate; consumer rights in your country still apply to them.
We'll help where we can, and we can act on the platform (for example against a publisher who abuses it), but we cannot refund a pledge on a publisher's behalf or force them to deliver. What awfunding does when a project doesn't deliver sets out exactly what happens, and what your options are.
If you are a publisher
The Publisher Agreement governs your use of the platform in full, including a data addendum covering backers' personal data. In summary, by running a campaign here you agree that:
- You will deliver what you promise, or communicate honestly and promptly with backers when plans change — including offering refunds where you cannot deliver.
- Everything you publish is yours to publish: your art, text, video, and the rights to the game itself.
- You will keep an accurate Stripe account, handle backers' personal data lawfully as an independent controller, and answer messages within a reasonable time.
- Your campaign is not a scam, a lottery, an investment offer, or a way to sell prohibited goods.
- We may pause, unpublish or cancel a campaign that breaks these terms, misleads backers, or exposes the platform to legal risk.
Payouts run through your own Stripe Connect account and are governed by Stripe's terms. Any platform fee is shown to you before you launch, and is currently zero for invited publishers.
Content you post
You keep ownership of what you upload — campaign art, story text, messages. You grant us a licence to host and display it as needed to run the platform. Don't post anything illegal, infringing, hateful, or deceptive; we may remove content that breaks that rule.
Availability
We work to keep the platform running, particularly around campaign deadlines, but we don't promise uninterrupted service. Maintenance, provider outages, and events outside our control happen.
Liability
The platform is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent the law allows, Arcane Wonders LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for a publisher's failure to deliver a project. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for fraud, or your statutory consumer rights.
Changes to these terms
We'll update the date above when these terms change, and notify you of material changes by email. Continuing to use the platform after a change means you accept it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
